The NALT Christians Project (Not All Like That)
Well these two guys (Dan Savage, the founder of the It Gets Better Campaign, and John Shore, author and blogger at johnshore.com) have teamed up and partnered with Truth Wins Out to launch The NALT Christians Project.
NALT stands for Not All Like That, and here is their purpose statement:
The purpose of the NALT Christians Project is to give LGBT-affirming Christians a means of proclaiming to the world—and especially to young gay people—their belief and conviction that there is nothing anti-biblical or at all inherently sinful about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
The idea came about because Dan Savage, while out on the road sharing his message, would overwhelmingly be told by Christians throughout the country that, "we are not ALL like that."
We (Christians) are not ALL anti-gay. We don't all come from the place where we think the Bible speaks clearly and obviously against our LGBT brothers and sisters.
And if you know John Shore, then you know he's been trying to get that message out there for years. To give a platform for those who don't see Christianity and same-sex orientation as inherently mutually exclusive.
John asked me if I would make a NALT video for them to help seed the project (which went live yesterday).
Needless to say, I am ALL IN for this project!
Here is my NALT Video.
If you too are a NALT Christian, then make your own NALT video (follow these guidelines) and add your voice to the NALT Choir.
The world needs to hear from those of us who believe that the Good News of Jesus is truly that: Good News. The world needs to hear from those of us who believe that people are born with same sex attraction and they are invited to live in to that in a holy and beautiful way JUST LIKE those of us who were born straight. The world needs to hear form those of us who see the Bible differently on this issue.
Thank you John, Dan, and others, for putting this project together.
It is good.
